Comrades,
It gives me great honour, on behalf of the Executive Committee, to welcome fellow comrades and visitors to our revamped website.
Malaysian Association for Powerlifting, or more fondly known as MAP, was incepted 6 years ago with a single objective in mind, to give Malaysian lifters a platform to showcase their performance and act as a bridge for these lifters to then share that same platform with colleagues from all over the region and the world. Our mission was to establish an international standard Drug-Free Powerlifting Federation in Malaysia.
We are grateful to the Government of Malaysia, Ministry of Youth and Sport Malaysia, ADAMAS, WADA, The International Powerlifting Federation, the Asian Powerlifting Federation and our devout members, all equally important throughout our journey. We also have had terrific guidance from neighbouring country federations as well.As a Non-Core sport, with barely any financial support from the government except a sanction letter recognising us as the National Governing Body, we drove the association to the height it is at now and we will continue our endeavours.
We have performed immaculately at International Meets we have sent teams to, always superseding the targets. We have shown tremendous improvement in our meet organising standards and technical acumen. We have established turnkey partnerships, fostered great relationship with sponsors and stakeholders, and gained remarkable momentum not just within the country but in our Southeast Asian Sub-Region as well.
The paradigm shift for strength sport is on the verge of happening and we’ve seen a great number of new, strong, potential, talented athletes join the fray. With the growing popularity of the sport and having caught the attention of the International Olympic Council, the path is being paved for powerlifting to soon become part of the penultimate global multi-sport exhibition, The Olympics. We really hope that this ambition is fulfilled in the very near future.
The association was founded with strong values which we carry with us in all our undertakings. We strive to provide what we set out for, in the best possible way within our limited means. We aspire to be one of the best governed federations within Malaysia and the IPF family. Our office bearers, officials, athletes and members have been nothing short of extraordinary. We are confident that we will continue to keep up with the bar we’ve set for ourselves and raise it progressively, together in solidarity.
Thank you.
Godspeed
Dato’ Dayalan Jeevan
President
